Meet The Friday Morning Bookclub……. Or At Least Some Of Us!
We recently met for our annual evening “couples meeting” to discuss The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It was the perfect opportunity to have one of our husbands act as photographer and get a picture of our group. Unfortunately we are missing a few of our members who had previous engagements. Recognize anyone?

Exciting News!
Fifteen groups won an authors chat with Rachel Keener and 12 copies of her book, The Memory Thief through ReadingGroupGuides and we are one of them! ReadingGroupGuides is a newsletter for book clubs and has all kinds of wonderful book recommendations as well as giveaways. The Memory Thief was published in March 2010 and is Keener’s 2nd novel. Her first novel The Killing Tree earned 5 stars among Amazon readers. I guess I will be finding a box of books on my front porch any day now! Depending on when the books arrive, we may have found a new May or June book!

2009 In Review
This year we learned about The Vél’ d’Hiv’ round ups in Paris , what it was like to live with a child suffering from osteogenesis imperfecta, polygamy, the Salem Witch trials, The Collyer Brothers, life in India and so much more. We talked about how one stupid mistake could change your whole life as well as what you would do, if you could do it all over again! We had some wonderful discussions, had the opportunity to preview the book Homer & Langley and write our own list of discussion questions and we invited our husbands to join us for an evening pot luck dinner meeting. We started our own blog which made it possible to vote on our book choices, rate our books on a scale of 1-5 omelets and gave us the opportunity to share book ideas with people from all over the world. We have blogged with people from Ohio, Tennessee, New York, New Jersey, California, Arizona, Toronto, and even Spain, France and Germany. It has been a lot of fun and I am looking forward to 2010 and all the wonderful books waiting to be read!

Meet The Friday Morning Bookclub!
It is always interesting to hear about how different book clubs work and what they are reading. The Friday morning Book club has been meeting for 7+ years. We started with 12 members and met for breakfast in a different home every month. More recently we have been meeting in “discussion friendly” restaurants. Although our group has changed somewhat over the years with people moving and going back to work, we still have 6 of our original members. and now have 14 members, which is a manageable sized group. We meet once a month and once a year we invite our spouses to join us for an evening meeting which includes a delicious Pot Luck Dinner. Of course we strongly encourage the men to also read the book and participate in the discussion.
If you know someone in a book club tell them about this blog. We would love to hear about their group and what they are reading. If you are in a different book club and stumbled upon us, we would love to hear from you. How do you select your books? Tells us a little about your group. Lets share ideas!
