I am having so much fun with Goodreads! I love going on the site and updating my “shelves” as well as checking out what my friends are reading. Even more fun is checking out the giveaways and entering to win books. I was notified from Goodreads that I was a winner AGAIN and just recieved the book The Man From Saigon by Marti Leimbach in the mail! Leimback is also the author of Daniel Isn’t Talking and Dying Young, which was made into a movie starring Julia Roberts. The Man From Saigon, a love story takes place in 1967 , in Saigon during the Vietnam war.  Check it out, and while you are there…. you may want to check out the Goodreads site!

I AM A Winner!

I just was notified by Goodreads that I am a First Reads Lucky Winner!  The book I won is  titled A Thousand Lies Every American Must Believe and was written by D.W.St John. Here is how the book is described on Goodreads:

“These are a few of the many lies we must believe if America’s political system, culture and world dominance is to endure. Our faith in them insures we never question who we are, how we live or the world we have made.
How many lies on the list do you believe? How many do your friends, family, coworkers believe? The list may anger you, surprise you, shock you, but it will also reverberate with you. Whether Conservative or progressive, Democrat or Republican, young or old, white or of color, these thousand lies will not fail to spark lively debate among readers.”

Looks interesting! I will let you know after I finish reading it. Check out the Goodreads site… it is a lot of fun, you can see what other people are reading, win free books and best of all……. and you can Be My Friend!

Stand By Debbie Williamson

I just finished the book I won through Goodreads: Stand; Overcoming a Lifetime of abuse and neglect with Grace and Dignity by Debbie Williamson. I have to admit that this is not a book I would normally choose to read, however I am certainly glad that I did!  Debbie was sexually molested at the age of 9 and you can imagine how this affected all of the relationships in her life. This is Debbie’s story of how she overcame the many obstacles in her life and found peace and happiness.  Within the book are pictures of Debbie’s extended family which really makes her story come to life and by the end of the book you will feel as if you know Debbie. This is a book you will not be able to put down! It took a very brave person to write this book and I wish Debbie, her husband Gary and their children and grandchildren a lifetime of happiness.
