Finally…A Book I Could Get Into!

Filed under: Uncategorized — susanbright @ 8:07 am

Reading has always been an escape for me, however lately I have been having a difficult time getting into any book. I have downloaded and started reading two or three different books only to give up after just a few pages. All were books I had been wanting to read and ones that I know I would enjoy if I could just stick with it, but my mind just seemed to wander.

In 5

When I started listening to In Five Years, I was hooked, and I must give credit to the narrator Megan Hilty. The story was engaging for sure but the narrator’s voice brought the main character Dannie to life.

Dannie Kohan had it all.  She had just interviewed for her dream job and her boyfriend David had proposed to her over a romantic dinner. The future looked good for her and she knew exactly where she would be in 5 years. She would be married to David and working at one of the most prestigious law firms in Manhattan.

When she went to bed that night with a ring on her finger, she was on top of the world, but when she woke up only a few hours later, she was not only in a strange apartment, but she was wearing a different ring and was with a different man, a man she had never seen before.

Even more shocking was the date shown on the television screen. It was still December 15th, but the year was 2025, five years in the future. This man seemed to know her and when he climbed into bed with her, she did not resist. Was this a dream,or could it be some kind of premonition?

When Dannie woke the next morning, she was back in the year 2020. Everything was as it should be, but she could not shake the feeling that everything had changed and as hard as she tried she could not forget this man or the way he had made her feel.

I don’t want to give too much away,  but needless to say Dannie and this mystery man’s lives will collide in a most surprising way. In Five Years is a story about love, friendship and yes heart break and it was just what I needed to get me reading again.

Has anyone else been having trouble reading? Any recommendations?

  1. Thank you. This sounds like a book I would like. I am also having trouble concentrating. I just finished The Rosie Project. I recommend it to readers who are looking for a laugh.
