As you probably know, I am an audio book junkie. I cannot get enough of them. I go into withdraw if I do not have one to listen to. Driving in my car without one is torture. I keep my playaway next to my bed in case I can’t sleep. My husband has gotten used to rolling over in bed and seeing the tiny purple ear bud in my ear. (I actually only use one at night as my other ear is buried in my pillow!) Emptying the dishwasher goes so much quicker when listening to a book, as does cooking, bed making, laundry, knitting, drafting….I could go on and on! I even listen to my audio book while blow drying my hair. Fortunately I am a good multi tasker and have yet to mess up a recipe because of my audio book addiction.
There is nothing more entertaining than a good audio book! Have you listened to any lately? Are there any other audio book addicts out there? What is the strangest thing you have ever done while listening to an audio book?

I cannot work out without an audio book. I just finished listening to The Language of Flowers. An excellent story.

I haven’t tried an audio book yet, What are some recommendations for good books to try on audio and do you just check these our from the library or do you need to purchase an audio player?

Aloha Linda! The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society was a wonderful audio book. It was like listening to a play. Room by Emma Donoghue was also very good. I recently listened to Silver Girl by Elin Hilderbrand and The Red Queen by Phillipa Gregory and enjoyed them both. I usually look for books that are not too heavy duty and do not need too much concentration.I like the Playaways, which are available at my library because they are compact and run by battery so they are very handy. Give one a try!
By the way…did you read Molokai? What did you think?

Thanks for the recommendations on audio books. I’ll check with our library to see what they have.
No I haven’t read Molokai but I have been down to Kaulapapa several times and it is very inspirational.
I have tried to find the book on Kindle but it isn’t available yet. I am going to have to break down and get the paperback version.
I love the Kindle because I can enlarge the print to where it is comfortable for me to see the print.
FYI: I found your book club when I was trying to locate a book club here on Molokai a few years ago,
Your group must have just read the book Molokai because it brought your book club up on the internet when I did a search for book clubs Molokai. I never found a book club here but I use your book club reading list for recommendations,
I have enjoyed reading books that come highly recommended that I have a very good chance of enjoying.

Great post! Audiobooks are just the best, aren’t they? Coincidentally, I just checked out my first playaway from the library – Bossypants by Tina Fey. The playaway is so cute! And I loved the Guernsey book but you make the audio sound fabulous.

Hi Lucy, Aren’t they a wonderful invention? They make listening to audio books so convenient. So easy to rewind when necessary! I just finished listening to The Expats by Chris Pavone. I am heading to the library tomorrow to pick up another Playaway or two!
