One Season of Sunshine was a delightful summer read. When Jane Aaron’s rocker boy friend asked her to marry him, she surprised everyone including herself. She couldn’t say yes. Jane had always known that she was adopted, but suddenly realized that she could not move on with her life without knowing where she came from. The only thing she knew for sure was that she was born in Cedar Springs, Texas. Jane took a leave of absence from her teaching job, left her loving family and boyfriend and moved from Houston to Cedar Springs to find answers.
When Jane went to the local employment agency she was told that the only job available in town was a nanny’s job. Asher Price, a handsome executive had lost his wife Susanna in a terrible car accident and was in need of someone to help take care of his two children Levi and Riley. Under normal circumstances she would not even have considered it but she needed a job and a place to live. The Price’s lived in a beautiful mansion named “Summer’s End”. It was the perfect job. She would have time to search for her birth mother as well as write her thesis on her time off.
The Price family was going through a difficult time. The children were not dealing well with the loss of their mother and Asher’s demanding job necessitated him doing quite a bit of traveling. As Jane got to know Asher and his children she couldn’t help but fall in love with them. Along the way she discovers the mystery surrounding Susanna’s death, as well as the answers she had been looking for. Although I can’t say that I was surprised by the ending, I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. One Season of Sunshine has just the right amount of mystery and romance to keep it interesting!
