Do You Ever Cheat And Skip To The End Of A Book?

Filed under: Polls — susanbright @ 10:08 am

I am always amazed at how many people tell me that they read the last pages of a book first! Some because they cannot stand the suspense, some to just get it over with and others out of sheer habit.  How about you? As always all votes and comments are welcomed!

This is an on-going poll! Please vote!

  1. I just read all of my books backwards. That way not only are you spared all of the art and excitement or surprise of the book, but you can perpetually say “I wonder what made that happen” or “HEY! I really never saw that one coming”…and you would always be right!

Last year, I payed a fortune teller one thousand dollars to tell me when I am going to die…but I am not telling any of you so that I can have the last laugh, ha…ha…

  2. I never skip to the end. My mother did, which used to drive me crazy but she said she liked the calming effect it had on her. That way, she didn’t have to be tense while reading. For me, I can’t stand it if someone gives away anything about the book (a book review, however, is always welcome because the reviewers know where to draw the line).

  3. Never ever ever……………but sometimes I skim to get to the end faster (and if the book is boring, I’ve learned to just get rid of it)………

  4. Yes, in fact I just did this recently with The Game of Thrones. I was so upset by a development in the plot (no spoilers here) that I read to the end to find the result. The result was disastrous, and because I was so disappointed I stopped reading the book.
