Outside Wonderland by Lorna Jane Cook is an enchanting novel about the three Stennen children, Alice, Griffin and Daisy (their mother had been a big Alice in Wonderland fan), who had lost their parents early in their lives. Their mother had died in a tragic household accident when they were very young, and their father had died of a heart attack when, as teenagers, they were living in Greece. Now adults, each of them is struggling to find their places in the world. What makes this book so enchanting, is that their parents are watching them from Heaven. Interspersed between the daily sagas of the three Stennen children are the commentaries of their loving mother and father. Heaven, as depicted in this novel, is the most wonderful of places, and the reader is left with a warm, loving feeling after reading this book. The characters, not only the three Stennen children, but the other significant people in their lives are all extremely likable. This is a book where you care about the characters.

Outside Wonderland sounds good. Did you read The Lovely Bones which also involves someone dying and watching from heaven?
