  1. Have y’all read Time is a River by Mary Alice Monroe? I really enjoyed the book and think it will inspire good discussion for a book club.
Also, we are reading Let the Great World Spins for our May read – can’t remember if you have read that yet.

  2. I would love to win a copy of this book. I would recommend The Irresistible Henry House because it makes for a very lively discussion and is a very interesting read. The premise is about a boy who is raised as an infant by 10 mothers in a practice house in a college in the 1940s. We follow his life as a child and then as a young adult.

  3. Our book club just finished reading Zeitoun, about a Syrian born contractor living in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. True story, but it reads like fiction. It is unbelievable what happens to him– and in the U.S.! Author is Dave Eggers.

  4. Our book club just finished Unbroken and we all loved the book. We had a great discussion and a wonderful homemade brunch too. We chose battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother for our next book. It will be hard to top Unbroken but we all look forward to trying.

    • Welcome Janet! We also just read Unbroken, with mixed reviews. Although everyone else in the world seemed to love it, a few of our members did not even finish the book. I almost put it down several times and have to admit that I did quite a bit of skimming! I hope you will vote on our poll! You will be receiving a copy of Soul Survivor!

  5. I’m about to read The Lake of Dreams by Kim Edwards (Memory Keeper’s Daughter). Looks pretty good. I’m trying to finish The Cultural Biography of Pearl Buck, which is very interesting, but has taken forever to read!

  7. I always enjoy Ed’s videos and did not know he is also an Author, that is so exciting! Should we read his novel for June and have him guest speak at our meeting?
I am enjoying “The Girl Who Played With Fire” the 2nd in the Steig Larsson series “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and it is more exciting than the first book, which is hard to do.I highly recommend it.

According to the Urban dictionary a jiggabob, (close, but not the exact same spelling)is a term to define that most dangly part of the male body!

  10. I am most intrigued by the Lonesman Motorcycle Ladies Book Club because I have several off color hobbies including SCUBA diving and full contact Mixed Martial Arts (Krav Maga) and my wife (yes I am truly “hen pecked”) and my daughters gave me crap when I got my motorcycle learners permit 4 months ago. I am a physician and ran a trauma center at the University Of Rochester Medical Center when I was in surgery and told several “donor cycle” stories. Well ladies, all I have to say is be careful what you say, it will haunt you ’till the end”. Enjoy the book, Val (the heroine) is kind of a biker girl. As a matter of fact, I wrote a Hollywood movie screenplay that nearly sold twice and guess what…Val was a biker chick in the the rewrite! Enjoy and please give me feedback if you wish, Ed
