Fun At The Library!

Filed under: Book Recomendations — susanbright @ 5:20 pm

The other day I had an hour to kill and just happened to be near my local library, so there was no question in my mind as to how I was going to spend my time. I love checking out the new fiction section and especially the section right up front with the new, hot titles, many of which we read this year! The timing was perfect for me as I just finished this month’s book Finny and am not quite ready to begin next month’s book Heaven’s Keep.

There were so many wonderful books just waiting to be read! I decided to start off the new year with a magical read by Sarah Addison Allen. The Friday Morning Book club read Sarah Addison Allen’s book Garden Spells  a few years ago.  How can you not love a book with a feisty apple tree with a personality all of its own,  a woman who can’t help but give all kinds of strange things to people even before they themselves know they are going to need it and another that knows just the right ingredients to put in her food to affect the way people feel. Garden Spells was a sweet charming read, and full of magic, so when I saw The Girl Who Chased The Moon, I was looking forward to another magical read and I was not dissaappointed.

After loosing her mother in a tragic accident, Emily returns to her mother’s hometown of Mullaby, to live with the Grandfather she never knew. and to find answer to the many questions she had about her mother’s past. What she does find is a bedroom with wallpaper that changes all by itself, a man who “sees scents as they float through the air” and lights that seem to “skip across the yard” in the middle of the night. For a quick, fun and sometimes magical read, check out these books by Sarah Addison Allen.
