Remember the recent news story about Jaycee Dugar who was held captive with her daughters by a man who had abducted her as a child? The novel Room by Enna Donoghue examines a similar scenario. I hesitated to read this book, but it was highly recommended, so I decided to give it a try. I am really glad that I did. Room is suspenseful and
thought-provoking. The novel, told mostly through the eyes of a 5 year old, makes the reader take a fresh look at ordinary things in life and in the power to survive during the most challenging circumstances. Although this is a difficult topic, I am sure that you will get absorbed in this book. Let me know what you think.

I read Room, and I agree with Lois that it was extremely thought provoking. I was also not sure that I wanted to read the book, given the subject matter, but after it was recommended by several people, I decided to give it a try. I thought that the author did an excellent job in dealing with a disturbing subject. This book would make for a great discussion!
