Family Tree By Barbara Delinsky

When I first started reading Family Tree, I could not put it down. What an intriguing story line. Dana and Hugh are a happily married white couple expecting their first child. Hugh’s father is a writer and is preparing for the publication of his new book which traces his ancestory back to the Mayflower. Dana knows little about her background as her mother died when she was young and her father had never been in her life.  Imagine everyone’s surprise when Dana gives birth to a baby girl with African American characteristics. Did Dana have an affair? Was it time to find her father and get some answers? Although I was expecting more, and found Family Tree to be somewhat predictable, it was an enjoyable, quick, beach /weekend read. On a scale of 1-5, I give Family Tree 3 omelets.
