I remember when we read The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff. I was amazed as to how Brigham Young, Prophet and Leader of the Mormon Church, kept all his wives straight. He actually had a notebook where he kept track of what night he slept with which wife as well as all kinds of personal facts about each one including their likes and dislikes. I would imagine that it is not easy keeping 55 wives in line!
The 19th Wife was actually two stories in one. The first story took place in 1875 and centered around Ann Eliza Young, the 19th wife of Brigham Young. Ann Young divorced her husband and began a crusade to end polygamy in the United States. The second story was a modern day murder mystery. At the age of 14, Jordan Scott was kicked out of the polygamist compound where he was born, only to be called back years later when his mother is accused of murdering his father. The 19th Wife is both a historical fiction and a murder mystery in one and now it is a Lifetime movie! Mark your calendars for September 13th or September 18th at 9 p.m.
