This book that The Friday Morning Bookclub read is divided into four sections: Lolita, Gatsby, James and Austen. Can you name the book?
Thank you Lauren! Reading Lolita in Tehran is a memoir written by Azar Nafisi. After being forced to leave her job as a teacher in an Iranian University, Nafisi formed a very special book club. She invited seven of her best students to meet at her apartment once a week to read and discuss Westen Literature. Many of the books were forbidden and the women met in secret, where they could actually take off their veils and be themselves. Nafisi returned to the United States in 1997 and began teaching at Johns Hopkins. Reading Lolita In Tehran is a fascinating peek into the lives of women living in Iran.
Is it Reading Lolita in Tehran? That’s definitely a book I’d like to reread!!
