On Saturday, May 15th, some members of the Friday Morning Book Club took a “field trip” to Gaithersburg to attend the Gaithersburg Book Festival. This was a beautiful day for a wonderful event sponsored by the City of Gaithersburg. Located on the grounds of the city offices, there were several pavilions set up offering a variety of workshops and talks given by various authors. There were also many tables manned by a variety of authors who were featuring their books, and we were excited to speak with many of them. Among them was a woman who writes of fairies, a man who had compiled a book filled with the love letters his parents had written while his father was overseas in WWII, a medical researcher who had written a “tell all scandal filled soap opera” based on the day to day goings on in a medical lab, and a young mother who had compiled several books based on knitting projects. We eagerly handed out http://www.fridaymorningbookclub.com bookmarks to everyone we met, trying to garner interest in our blog. For book lovers, this was a great event to meet authors, and to explore the world of books.
