What book, that The Friday Morning Bookclub read, center around a fictional, clandestine U.S. government program “Brides for Indians”?
Anyone is welcomed to answer! Use our book list for a reference!
Thank you Esther J. One Thousand White Women; The Journals of May Dodd by Jim Fergus is the correct answer.
One Thousand White Women was a book club favorite. Imagine the US Government sending women to live with the Cheyenne Indians for two years with the expectations that they would not only teach the “savages” but also bear their children. These women were formerly living in prisons and insane asylums and were offered this unique opportunity to escape their present living conditions. A fascinating read!
I think that the answer is “One Thousand White Women”
